Avodha helps colleges to increase their student placement numbers

Avodha has built a space for students to come and be able to explore their passion and land a job related to the course they’ve studied with Avodha.

Its soon going to be placement season in campuses and yet we see a huge gap between the number of graduates available in the labor pool and the number of companies out there to get jobs, if you look at a typical campus in Tier 2 or Tier 3 college, this difference becomes all the starker, in a campus of 2000 students less than 12 companies show up with an offer of fewer than 45 jobs. This skewed ratio is at the heart of unemployment in our country and the root cause of why India has so much labor that is sitting idle and unproductive. Avodha has set out to remedy this gap with a strong focus on bridging the gap between colleges and companies.
Avodha has signed MOU for conducting add-on courses and Avodha learning center with Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad. The college management comprised of Principal Sunil C Mathew, Vice Principal Fr. How a focus on learning outcomes and testing has resulted in aggressive user acquisition for this company

The rapid rise of the EdTech sector has resulted in the aggressive entry of several new players into the segment. And one such player that has attracted a considerable amount of traction in the past year is Avodha. Launched during the onset of the pandemic and the resultant lockdown, Avodha's journey is one that went against all odds. Despite a gloomy environment that discouraged new businesses to grow due to the economic downturn, Avodha braved the odds and built out a pan India presence with offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. The secret sauce behind this rapid expansion has been focusing on learning outcomes and appropriate testing, says Joseph E George, the 24-year-old founder of Avodha. Avodha's relentless pursuit of learning outcomes and testing has given them one of the highest placement numbers in the country, with over 70,000 students being connected to various jobs and internships.

Avodha offers courses in vernacular languages

Through Avodha, student pays a small amount upfront which is roughly one-fourth of the overall fees and remainder is paid after student gets a job related to course they have studied.Amid crises faced by the students and the educational sector in the state due to the pandemic, a startup from Kochi has taken a different path and has been offering courses in vernacular languages other than English and considers the financial conditions of students in an empathetic manner while putting together their fee structure. While most online learning platforms are offering courses in English, Avodha, a vernacular upskilling platform, is offering 20 courses in regional languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Six courses are also available in Hindi. Through Avodha, the student pays a small amount upfront which is roughly one-fourth of the overall fees and the remainder is paid after the student gets a job related to the course they have studied, the company said in a release.

Avodha, Income Sharing Agreement and the new financing in Education

Income Sharing Agreement is a form of payment wherein the students do not have to pay the entire fees for their education during their learning period but rather can pay the fees once they get a job that pays a salary.
The cost of education has gone up by over 20 times in the past 10 years, on a CAGR basis the cost of Education constantly increases which is why India sees so many educational institutions and some of the most exorbitant fees in the world being charges by educational institutions here, along with this we see the rising phenomenon of Educational startups or EdTechstartups coming up across the country and attaining billionaire valuations. A peculiar trend seen in e-learning that is not quite visible in other areas is the exorbitant cost of the courses, most of these companies that command a Billion dollar valuation in India sell their courses for a price above ₹40,000, with some institutions charging as high as ₹1 lakh. This has lead to further research into the segment in trying to determine the factors that influence these prices. Upon closer examination, we find that the curriculum is largely the same for a lot of these platforms and institutions, despite having similar curriculum and course content why is there such a great disparity in pricing. "Pricing is largely influenced by branding and closing, you will find students that have paid different prices for the same course in the same platform", says Joseph E George the 24-year-old founder of Avodha that is looking to change the traditional pricing models in Indian higher education.
